From the legacy of Master Renato Mascaro to Excellence in Monumental Sculpture

1958 – The Master's Origins

The story of the Maison has its roots in Treviglio in 1958, when Master Renato Mascaro (born in 1933), at just twenty-five years of age, founded his first workshop dedicated to the artistic working of cast bronze. Taking his first steps through the chasing of metal elements and art finishes, the passion for the plasticity of bronze immediately guided the research toward sculpture of the highest value.

1962–1964 – The Founding Work and Collecting

In 1962 the Foundry’s first great founding work takes shape: the philological reproduction of a celebrated table pendulum clock in Louis XV style — a historic piece kept in the Maison’s archives under the name "Article 1".

The exceptional reception reserved for this work at the Salone del Mobile in Milan marks the beginning of a controlled and strictly limited production. In 1964, with the arrival of the first master artisans and collaborators, the creation begins of monumental clocks, candelabra, sculptures and large lighting ensembles intended for the most prestigious collectors of the time.

The 1970s – Philological Research

During the Seventies, Master Renato Mascaro intensifies a thorough study of Europe’s great private collections, in search of historic models whose sculptural value could satisfy an increasingly demanding international clientele. It is in this setting that hand chasing with mallet and chisel becomes the Maison’s unmistakable signature: every cast surface is worked with such mastery as to give the bronze the same depth, warmth and patina as the great period pieces of high collecting.

The 1980s – Major Artistic Collaborations

The Eighties mark the opening of the Artistic Foundry to the world of major monumental works and contemporary sculpture. The Maison works alongside public institutions — such as the Municipality of Treviglio — for the philological restoration of monuments, ecclesiastical complexes and commemorative plaques, placing its technical expertise at the service of world-renowned sculptors of twentieth-century Italian art.

For these masters, the Maison and its trusted foundries carry out the hand finishing, precision chasing and artistic patinas of the artwork.

Toward the middle of the decade, with the entry into the company of his son Franco Mascaro, the Maison structures its team of excellence and definitively chooses to abandon small furnishing items to devote itself to to art clocks and historic triptychs.

The 1990s – The Solemnity of Empire Style and High-Finish Gilding

In the Nineties the structure is consolidated under the company name “Bronzi d’Arte Renato Mascaro”. The Maison focuses its artistic research on the Empire and Napoleon III styles, perfecting a revolutionary art-gilding technique capable of visually reproducing the Mat et Brillant effect typical of historic mercury gilding, in full compliance with environmental regulations and the health of artisans.

MASCARO’s work becomes, in every respect, the “new period piece”: a timeless artistic expression, conceived to remain unchanged through the centuries and destined for residences of the highest representation, institutional halls and the courts of Europe, the Middle East, the Americas and Asia.

The MASCARO line rigorously preserves the philological reproduction of high antiquarian pieces and the creation of monumental sculptures executed by hand by senior Master Chasers, bearing witness to a passion that transforms bronze casting into an indelible artistic heritage.
